08:33 AM ET 01.05 | Manager Buck Showalter's contract extension, which may be announced next week, is expected to be for three years, which would keep him in Baltimore through the 2016 season, people familiar with the talks suggested. Showalter flew up from his Dallas area home to meet with Orioles owner Peter Angelos on Friday, MASN Sports and other Baltimore-area media outlets reported. The meeting was believed to be a final step toward a new deal for Showalter, who guided the Orioles to a stunning 93-69 record in 2012, their first winning season since 1997. Sources suggested the deal remained on track as of late Friday. Showalter's current salary of $1.5 million, according to Cots Baseball Contracts, ranks him in the middle of the pack among managers.

showalter has passed the test as a manager in orioles franchise, plus he has proved he is a conssistent manager that his good stability as manager its not just luck, should showalter has to prove anything more to the orioles in order to be rewarded as a manager??doubtfull,,

if the orioles can't give to their current manager a fair contract, then showalter could move to toronto and give a lift to the jays, can anybody imagine showalter as a manager in the jays team??
