08:51 AM ET 01.05 | Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has his struggling Brooklyn squad on his mind even while he's on a lavish winter getaway. Sources say the Russian billionaire has been spotted skiing in Courchevel, France -- and that when a fellow vacationer asked the mogul in Russian about his NBA team, he responded by confidently saying, "I'm going to fix it. We will win." According to reports, Prok interrupted his skiing to come to New York last week to ax coach Avery Johnson.

the broklin new york team needs by any means,, better players or better coaches can't manage a team WHO doesn't have a brain in the leader team, should the owner get a tough manager and a few tough players?? things could get interested,,,

Don't worry, MMA. When Howard leaves L.A in the dust, you can jump on the Nets bandwagon. Get your new avatar ready.

Same ol' Nets are still good for a laugh and their new Brooklyn logo is still hideous.

This guy Prokhorov is a great owner. He spends the $$ and gets the right personnel. I think they pulled the trigger on AJ to soon, but it seems the Nets are doing better. Win against OKC was big.

MP is determined to get the title. With more owners were this outspoken about their plans. Also, I still think a Deron/Hump for Nash/Gasol trade is in the wings.

Having assembled a cast of over paid under achievers the Russki is stuck with this mess for at least 2 - 3 seasons. Now the Nets are just good enough to be out of the draft lottery.

Any moron who ok'd $24 million to that stiff Kris Humphries doesn't know anything about basketball.

You had me right up until you mentioned that trade. On that note, I had to shake my head and laugh. Of course, if you're a Lakers fan, that would explain it. X^D *Hah!*

At first glance, your comment appears very sensible. After all, if the Nets are doomed as one of the "loser franchises" of the league, then why throw money at it ?However, he is adding value to an underappreciated product. By improving the product, he can resell it to the next owner at a higher price.Just the move to Brooklyn is probably doubling the value of the franchise from what it was worth in the Meadowlands, Jersey.

From a business perspective, I'm inclined to agree with you wholeheartedly. On the other hand, I'm also inclined to believe that Mr. Prokhorov means what he says. Perhaps the long range outlook is geared towards resale, but I doubt he'd bank on the prospect of someone purchasing an over-valued property. It happens, but he doesn't strike me as the type who'd settle for that when "more" could be had. You don't get to be a self-made billionaire by settling.

He's learning on the job. Most ventures don't show immediate success. Just having tons of money doesn't mean that everything you invest in succeeds right away. Mark Cuban?

If MP is determined to win a title why on Earth would he make that trade? Basically trading one of the top pg's with years left in him for an old one with a couple tops. With 2 out of form big men thrown in.
