06:13 AM ET 01.06 | It's over folks, it's finally over. The NHL and the players union have finally reached a tentative agreement that will end the 113 day lockout and return hockey to the masses. A deal was struck in the early hours on Sunday morning, meaning the start of the 2012-13 hockey season is right around the corner. Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman was the first to break the story of the agreement. According to Friedman, the immediate details of the new deal have not yet been made available, but some details have been leaked. Friedman states that the deal is structured much like the new CBA's for the NFL and NBA where it's a 10-year contract with an opt-out clause after year eight. The salary cap has also been raised by roughly $3 million, from $60 million to now $63.4 million. The biggest detail of all has been confirmed: hockey is back.

Someone might want to tell the SI front page editors...they apparently haven't gotten the news.

Finally, our long International nightmare is finally over, we don't have to look at Fehr for another 8-10 years now.

Also, whomever this moderator is, send him to the Middle East because if he could get Bettman and Fehr to agree on something, peace in the Middle East will be a cakewalk for him.

Any deal that leaves the Butt-plug in place I consider a failure.

Yep...now if we could do the same with Buttmunch, the circle will be complete.

I thought Jimmy Carter already took care of that?

Seriously though, good news this morning. Let the games begin!

Unfortunately, the owners don't share our sentiments when it comes to Buuuuttttman.

Absolutely...and Jeremy Jacobs shouldn't hold his breath waiting for me to put any more money in his pocket either. I've gone to my last B's game as long as he owns the team.

I'd love to see an honest poll of all the owners. I bet there are more than a few that do share our opinion.

Hockey has become the 'red-headed step child' of pro sports.. and after saying that.. alot of sports will agree with me when I say.. ''WHO CARES??"

January 6, 2013  09:39 AM ET

Silly predictions sure to go wrong about the B's.

1. Chris Bourque starts on the 3rd line and scores between 10-15 goals on a line with Peverly and Kelly.
2. Tuukka Rask leads the league in GAA.
3. Seguin scores 30 goals in the shortened season.
4. B's finish 2nd overall in the conference, but make it to at least the Conference Finals.
5. Bergeron signs 4 year extension before puck drops.

About time now those season tickets I bought for my daughter and my son in law can use them. GO WINGS!

January 6, 2013  09:42 AM ET

Oh, and Dougie Hamilton wins Calder.

Ousting the guy who's presided over so much labour unrest in his tenure would make me more interested in watching hockey again.

If I had to pick 3 from that list to actually happen, I'd go with # 2,4 & 5.

7. Cups of beer: $26.50 (Colt 45)
