09:06 AM ET 01.06 | Doug Marrone has agreed to leave Syracuse and become the coach of the Buffalo Bills, league sources told ESPN on Sunday morning. Marrone replaces Chan Gailey, who was fired after going 16-32 over three seasons. Marrone has yet to sign a deal. The Bills also interviewed Oregon's Chip Kelly on Friday and former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith on Saturday. Marrone has been credited for turning around the Orange in four seasons.

A 25-25 record... is this really going to work out how the Bills hope?

I hope he can turn it around and make that division more interesting. It's been a long time since the Bills were in the playoffs.

Good choice. Now give him four years and leave him alone. He was a big part of that Saints offense as their OC when he was there. He did an outstanding job at Syracuse turning one of the worst programs in the country around. Now send that GM buddy nix to an island somewhere.

I get that he's turned Syracuse around in his four year tenure, but will he get four years to do the same with the Bills? The speed with which some head coaches are ushered out the door made me wonder if he'll get the same opportunity to thoroughly change things in Buffalo.

Who knows if this will be a good move or not, but the Bills had to do something.

Let's hope the Bills don't subscribe to the two years and you're out way of thinking. Not sure when we got so impatient but if he doesn't have four years to succeed or fail they're not giving him a fair shot and shouldn't hire him.

Exactly. I think he is a great hire, he knows the pro game and has the personality to and experience to deal with pro players.
The problem there is buddy nix and anointed Russ Brandon to run the place. Anybody who thinks ralph wilson has personally run this team the last five years is wrong. It was Brandon and Nix making the decisions. The bills are not that far away in the new NFL mediocrity laden league from making the playoffs. Few teams are.

If Nix and Brandon will leave him alone he's got a shot. They really aren't that far away.

That is what I think.Brandon is just a money guy, but Nix thinks he is the smartest guy in the room, problem is, if he would look around he is the only one in that room.

If Nix hired Gailey then he's is definitely not the smartest guy in the room, even when he is alone.

Because Nix coached in college (losing record) and was a scout for the Bills he thinks he's got a handle on what it takes to be a successful NFL Head Coach and probably won't keep his nose out of Marrone's business. If Marrone can, he should take Nix in a side room and make him back off. It won't happen but he can try.

Lets just hope this is one of those WHACKY ROMORS. They thought Sandy was a disaster. Maybe this is one of those situations where it was not the Team that rejected all the coaches they interviewed, but was in fact the opposite, none of the coaches interviewed would accept the terms Buffalo was offering. If that is the case it looks like New England, NYJ's, and Miami are going to have fun pushing around the Bills for the next 4 years.
