Brian Kelly: Leaving Notre Dame for NFL not an option

10:18 AM ET 01.06 | Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly didn't say Saturday whether he or his agent has been contacted by any NFL teams looking for a coach. But after Kelly -- ever the politician -- danced around the issue for a while, he finally said the words Irish fans were hoping to hear. "Leaving is not an option," he said. "I don't even think about it." Speculation around Kelly's future has been high since seven NFL coaches recently were fired, including the Bears' Lovie Smith. But Kelly, the Walter Camp coach of the year, said his focus is strictly on the national championship game Monday against Alabama.

These words have been spoken many times before, by many other coaches, just change the names of the teams.....

To paraphrase Van....

I'm number 1!!!

He should use that as Leverage to up his contract like Jabba Weiss. Must be nice to get paid for years after getting canned.

IMO, I think BK would make a decent coach in the NFL, but it really wouldn't hurt him to stay at ND for a couple of more years. He has really only had one real good season as HC at ND.

Surprised that he hasn't already left. His M.O. is leave to his undefeated team high and dry before the bowl game.

January 6, 2013  12:14 PM ET

He is only 50 years old and Notre Dame is Notre Dame.

Roll Tide!!! Brian Kelly is a puppet. ND football would not be anywhere near this game if it wasnt for terrible officiating. This team isnt worthy of the ranking or big game.
