02:38 PM ET 01.06 | A deep triceps bruise, not an elbow injury, is what kept Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder out of Saturday's Wild Card matchup against the Green Bay Packers, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500. Following the Vikings' loss to the Packers, head coach Leslie Frazier said during his press conference that on Friday Ponder had improved to the point where the team had hope the quarterback could start Saturday's playoff opener. However, Frazier said that it became evident before the game that it wouldn't be the "smart" move to play Ponder, as the quarterback wasn't able to do some of the things that were asked of him from the coaching staff.
