Celtics poised for multi-player deal

08:02 AM ET 01.07 | Boston, which on Sunday waived rookies Jarvis Varnado and second-round pick Kris Joseph, has been picking up a little steam on the court lately. And the improvements that the Celtics are looking to make won't likely come by picking up players waived by other teams. Two league sources contacted on Sunday said that the Celtics will look to bolster their roster via a multi-player trade. ... While it's unlikely the Celtics will look to move any member of their big Three -- Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett -- league sources confirmed that there's "growing" interest in Courtney Lee who might become more expendable with the return of Avery Bradley. Brandon Bass is another possible Celtic on the move, one league source said.

Not sure what they plan on getting for Courtney Lee or Brandon Bass...I do not see help on the way for those two players. Good luck with that.

QUOTE(#4):

It's wishful thinking... But GM's who trade they consider when contracts are ending, they consider players getting more minutes and producing w/ more minutes, draft picks.... In this case moving DMC it'll be less headaches for King management... That's their ultimate goal is to bring normalcy w/ paperwork. DMC is clearly not happy. He's not going about it in the most adult way for sure. DMC going to the Celtics, he'd have management he'd respect, He'd respect Doc and most def KG and PP.... I think something can be done if Ainge can get King management to take Courtney Lee instead of Avery Bradley.... I guess thats the hold up. Courtney Lee w/ playing time is a decent player....

I agree Lee is a decent player and I think he can help a team. I just dont see Sac giving up Cousins for so little. They basically hold his contract rights for the next 2 or 3 years and at a great rate and he is very talented. I just think teams will throw much better offers at Sac but we have seen stranger things happen.

Time To Blow It Up, Bros.

The C's need someone with size to help/replace KG, someone like Gortat. If the C's get DMC, they need to keep KG around to show him how to prepare and play hard every night. Noone is a bigger fan of KG's, but that shot he hit Tyler Hans with with was dirty and ugly. That was a physical game, but his shot went way over the line.

Don't need to, they just passed the baton to that other team in LA instead. Imagine how much better they would be if they didn't have Vinnie as a Coach? Scary

The Celts are looking to make a big move with someone not in the Big 3?? Trading Courtney Lee is not going to change the ages of Pierce or Garnett.

My money says that if Boston does not improve out of the 7 or 8 seed, they are going to get bounced. And that is assuming they hang onto the 8 seed to begin with.

Playing just under .500 ball is not the sign of a good team...I can care less about what they have done in the past.

Do not get rid of Bradley. Else you got no decent SG for the near future. Terry is old, Lee is not it.

Like others have said: Rondo + Bradley + Sullinger and maybe the likes of Green (who has to step up) and Cousins would be great. No idea how but they have to try and make it work.

January 7, 2013  12:27 PM ET

Add to that all of the pre-season "noise" about how Lee, Bradley and Terry made Ray Allen expendable yet the best of those 3 is shooting 42% from 2 and 34% from 3pt land while Allen is 49% from 2 and 47% from 3 land.

The Celts are not the team they were and having 1 more year on the wheels does not help.
