08:05 AM ET 01.07 | Whether the Marlins would move Giancarlo Stanton became a hot topic during a cool period of the offseason. The Marlins are not shopping Stanton. They are not dangling him like the carrot at the end of a stick. They are not floating his name to other teams. Simply put, the Marlins "are not moving him," according to a source I spoke with. They haven't even "discussed" it internally. The team's plans calling for Stanton to start the season with the club and occupy the clean-up spot have "not changed at all," according to another source with knowledge of the Marlins' intentions. ... The latest report indicates the Marlins have spoken to the Padres about Stanton. "Completely off base" and "totally ridiculous" was the response I received.

They will most likely keep him for one more season. Next year he will be arbitration eligible, so if he stays healthy and hits 50 bombs in 2013, he will command way to much money for 2014.

I look for him to be moved next winter. Any team that wants him should be trying to stockpile as many prospects as possible now.

Surely his value will never be higher for the Marlins to trade him? I can't see him hitting more than 25-30 HRs this year - if there's nobody on base in front of him and nobody behind him for protection then why is ANYONE going to bother throwing this guy a strike?

When you're 5 or 6 runs ahead, you don't really worry about pitching around someone. Especially if there's nobody on base. He'll get plenty of chances to hit.

What goes back to Miami in such a deal? When should we book it for?
