08:10 AM ET 01.07 | For a guy unlikely to play Monday night, Irish freshman quarterback Gunner Kiel sure has been popular this past week. [Kiel] was heavily recruited by Alabama and initially committed to LSU before switching to Notre Dame in order to stay close to his Columbus, Ind., home. At Notre Dame's BCS media day Saturday at Sun Life Stadium, the freshman told reporters that if he had it to do over again, he'd handle his recruitment differently. "I think I over-examined everything and took everything over the top," said Kiel. ... With sophomore Everett Golson entrenched as the Irish's starting job at quarterback, the road to playing time for Kiel at Notre Dame will be difficult. He said he hasn't thought of transferring, but added "anything could happen."

From the way he moves around you would think he is in the military....

I guess the idea of learning the offense, redshirting a year, hauling a clipboard for a while to get a true understanding of the game and then competing to win the job just doesn't have any value whatsoever anymore.

Check out the book "Generation Me". I found it a good read....and the movie "Parental Guidance" probably irritated some of the modern parents.
Every single one of us "more vintage" folks would have the same outlook had we been coddled to the degree this generation has.

Things just aren't like they used to be
Used to be kids had respect for their elders
When I was a kid.......
U guys crack me up. With this awful economy, there are a lot of kids not being coddled. Food stamps and unemployment checks ain't the Ritz. We don't yet know what this mostrecentgneration will do buti wouldn't bet against them. If previous generations learn through struggling then why would they be different.

Some of this is true....but there are also a large part of folks on food stamps riding around in fancy cars, wearing better clothes than I can afford...and there was a report out recently about the EBT cards getting cash out at strip clubs and liquor stores...and there are more and more folks collecting entitlement subsidies than ever before.
And then you add the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality....meh
But JMO...

Agree to disagree. I don't see a lot of what you're referring to but you can't pull cash out on Oregon cards and I guess I don't pay attention to what car they drive off in.
