06:19 PM ET 01.07 | Details are starting to surface regarding the severity of Robert Griffin III's right knee injury, thanks to people familiar with the MRI results. The latest reports indicate that Griffin has suffered partial tears of his anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments. Griffin is set to visit Dr. James Andrews for further evaluation on Tuesday. The rookie signal-caller had been playing with a sprained LCL for the past few weeks and he has previously suffered a torn ACL in the same knee. There is no word whether or not Griffin's knee injury will require surgery. It is taking awhile for the team to determine the full damage because of the previous knee injuries Griffin has suffered. Further evaluations will be conducted to figure out what is new damage and what is old.

RGIII's passing success depends on his ability to run...very fast. Not that he'll run often but the threat that he can allows him time to throw. Defenders respect that. If he can't regain his quickness he'll be a smaller sized immobile passer. He'd have to find a new way to play his position. Let's hope it's not as bad as it sounds.

Reports suggest 9-12 months recovery. See you in 2014. Say day for Skins.

Snyder can't be too pleased with the way Shanny handled his investment.

Looks like RG Gimpee's EGO got the best of him! After the first two drives he only produced 50 yards passing and running on 1 leg. What the hell was he doing in there.Did he really think he was the best option for his team at that point? He wasn't thinking about what was best for his team. He simply wanted more glory and now he has to pay for it.

Let's wait until the results are in, this guy is a great talent, however he has to learn to go down and throw the ball out of bounds, otherwise, he won't be around for any length of time or he will be inefficient. Look what's happening to Michael Vick, you got to take care of your body! Hail,!

If I was a Redskins fan I would be somewhat unhappy with Mr Shanahan

That's crap. He's a competitor. He wanted to play. That's what competitors do. Coaches decide who plays and who sits. That's what good coaches do. Unfortunately for RG III and the Redskins, Shanahan is not a good coach. He lacked the skill, vision and/or balls to make the right decision for the team.

It's hard to question RGIII wanting to start (Cutler & LT quitting comments come to mind). But I do question the option calls with RGIII trying to run. It was obvious he couldn't and it may have led to his knee giving out - moreso than the shoddy field. Yet they kept calling it, all game long... till the end. That falls on the coach.
Wish him luck in his recovery. Hope he doesn't need a complete rebuild.

Competitor or not you know when you are hurting the team. 75 yards gained in almost 3 quarters of football? Even Sanchez could do that and you know how bad he is. RG put himself before the team. He knows how bad he was playing and my mother could have thrown a ball better than him. good riddance to the bum!

That baffled me too... If everyone could clearly see how he was hobbling around, why not scale down those option reads and run the ball with Morris more instead. Especially with the lead.

Cousins should've started the 3rd quarter. Period. Shanahan has to have the stones to make that call or he doesn't need to be the HC.

Leaving that kid in the game for short-term gain like that is disgusting. Total lack of guts on Shanahan's part. I'm ashamed of the whole organization.

HOF Head Coach on the sidelines...
Yet they let a 22 year old decide if he wanted to keep playing.

My point exactly. When he hobbled out of bounds on that read-option play instead of cutting up-field for major yardage, it was obvious he was hurt. He shouldn't have taken another snap.

Thats on the coach...any player with heart is going to play until he dies or is told not to. Dont blame the kid for wanting to gut it out. I hear your point about hurting the team, but some ppl have this "dont ever quit" gene that most of us dont...he's one of those guys.

I agree. The coaches and training staff have to watch him and rein him in before he really gets hurt.
