07:54 AM ET 01.08 | A Monday report suggested Scott Skiles might be done in Milwaukee at the end of the season -- but things happened much more quickly. A league source confirmed late Monday night that Scott Skiles is out as coach of the Milwaukee Bucks after four-plus seasons. The source said it was mutually agreed between the two parties that Skiles would no longer coach the Bucks, effective immediately. Jim Boylan will take over as interim coach of the team beginning with Tuesday's home game against Phoenix, the source indicated. Skiles was in the final year of his contract with the team. He originally signed a four-year deal in April 2008 and had his contract extended one year following the 2009-'10 season.

Another team will sign him.
Maybe the Lakers?

Skiles never got the players he needed to make his system work. He can be successful in the NBA if he and his GM are on the same page.

There is no direction for this Bucks team. No one knows whether the team is built to win now, for whether it is re-building. This may be the reason why Skiles wants to leave

Too many changing parts and not enough stability. Scott Skiles seems to take jobs that are doomed from the very beginning and knowing his fate long before it happens he somehow assumes those jobs and try to establish a winning atmosphere. With all the changes over the four years that he has coached the Bucks its apparently impossible for Skiles to produce a winner. Unlike teams that are able to allow chemistry to build Milwaukee continue to build non-chemistry and usually the results are fired coaches, traded players, and an abundance of talent that does not mesh well together, good luck in finding another job assuming the same fate.

Skiles is probably a little too intense for an NBA job. As a player, he would scream at opposing players and his teammates all game long. He was voted the toughest player in the NBA by the players one year. And of course he is the only undersized point guard to square off against Shaq and live to tell about it. Ultracompetitive, but probably not a good fit in a player's league.

Skiles has proven to be an above-average coach. And if players can't learn some hard-nosed play from their coach, it's really on them!!
I wish the hawks will go get him. We need some toughness.

That's shocking considering the fact that Bucks have been doing well of late. He must have really pissed someone off.

I suspect it was more like an employee giving their two-week notice before they leave the company and the employer subsequently cutting ties immediately with hopes of avoiding a lapse in productivity.
