No expanded playoffs for 2013 season

08:04 AM ET 01.08 | After the previous lockout, NHL fans would be coming back to a few new wrinkles to the game. [This is time around, as] the lockout continued, there was speculation that the playoffs could be expanded for the 2013 season. ... An expanded postseason would be a nice, bright shiny thing that can distract many fans from their lockout anger and/or cure their apathy. It would be parity on steroids, with every team in the hunt in a 48-game schedule. So will it happen for 2013? No, according to NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, who told Puck Daddy on Monday via email: "No expansion of the Playoffs being contemplated for this year (and I don't think any is being contemplated beyond this year either)."

As soon as we have a schedule, I'll repost what I had on the Leafs Elimination/Burke's firing pool. I haven't decided if we'll start from scratch or work off the old list and allow for changes. I do have an idea that would allow for people to pick more than one date. More later.

I agree. For example, will the beloved Leafs succumb to insanity and take Luongo? Would definitely change my guesstimate.

Okay...so let's look at a few few things here:
1) Not really sure when she became a sports expert. being famous for appearing in a "sports" magazine in a dental floss bikini may not actually qualify you as an expert on anything other that strategic hand placement. Even if she DID stay at a holiday inn express last night
2) Her relationship with sports is tenous at best. besides the magazine...sleeping with the best pitcher in the American League again, while certainly able to give insight, does not make you an expert
3) How bad can a franchise be is someone possessing the above "qualifications" disses you?

I hope not too. Even if the League expands to 32 teams in the next few years (God help us), the play-offs should stay at 16 teams. I think Danny's comment 4 pretty much overrides all else though.
