League-player trust forever broken?

08:04 AM ET 01.08 | The NHL and NHL Players' Association have finally nailed down an agreement, and while much remains in the To Be Determined file, hockey is on its way. [It] will take years to build up trust between both sides. The mistrust between players and owners, between the union and league, is perhaps at an all-time low. "I would like to believe that if larger groups of players, owners and executives were able to interact more often and contribute ideas to the game and the business, then there would be at least a little bit of trust built over time," star Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller told ESPN.com via email Monday. ... "The problem now is that I am not sure any player will ever forgive the league executives, let alone start to trust them."

What is there to forgive the league execs about? Being who they truly are - greedy businessmen concerned with the bottom line and little else? Do you want to be playing for peanuts? It's over. Get over it, and get back to finishing in 9th.

agree completely...did the NHLPA (no saiints in this mess either though) think they were dealing with fine, altruistic pillars of the community? For goodness' sakes, you need look no further than the wee troll that leads them to see what kind of people they are...
So keep quiet, put your pads on, and be prepared to get run over in Boston again

You guys are all missing the point. The game is supposed to be fun. Everybody should get a Cup (albeit 29 teams a little bitty cup) and no one should be made fun of. I think the Red Cross chapter in each town should be the owner of one conference and the Salvation Army the other. Maybe at last the owners and players can love one another and skate for the betterment of mankind. No tripping, hooking or hard checks though. Let's all be nice and trust one another.

What a bunch of ****. :-(

they should be more concerned about league - fan trust being broken, (although the fans being sheep not likely to happen) even more impportant, league - sponsor trust. by the way can someone post the editorial cartoon from today's toronto star, it's priceless

for sure in the big hockey markets the fans will come back, but if I recall correctly, this lock-out was about the small markets being able to be financialy viable...so if they just killed off their fan base that's a bad thing. We'll see where we are 6 months from now...

The mistrust between players and owners, between the union and league is what it has always been. Who trust their boss to do the right thing.

Amen. The only people who do not understand this fundamental truth of life, are those who have never held jobs.
