Bears interview Toub

11:43 AM ET 01.08 | The Chicago Bears have interviewed special teams coach Dave Toub for their head coach vacancy, according to Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune. The Bears are trying to replace Lovie Smith, who was fired on Dec. 31. Toub has been the Bears' special teams coach since 2004. In 2007, he was named the special teams coach of the year.

Special teams was the one area where the Bears played consistently well while Toub was there. Nice to see him getting the opportunity to interview for the job.

Great special teams coach... But I think they need a new offensive philosophy. Toub might not be the right guy. I hope they can keep him as ST coach though

I agree... they do an offensive philosophy. It would be great if he could be enticed to stay with the team.

Is there anyone else Chicago hasn't interviewed? It seems like they aren't leaving any stoned unturned at this point. Doing their diligence is one thing, but when I read that they're interviewing Marc Trestman, it feels like Phil Emery is indecisive or maybe worse, a little desperate.
