04:43 PM ET 01.08 | Ken Whisenhunt was let go by the Arizona Cardinals on Dec. 31, despite being the only coach to ever lead the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance. After a brief period of time in which the Cardinals were thought to be closing in on Andy Reid, the former Eagles coach chose the Kansas City Chiefs instead. Arizona is still left with some of the top options on the coaching market. The team has already met with Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and plans to interview Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden at some point this week, according to Mark Dalton via Twitter. Dalton is a part of the Cardinals' media relations team.

** Cardinals next Head Coach....

January 9, 2013  07:35 AM ET

Most of these owners who fired their coaches got all misty eyed thinking about Bill Cowher, Chip Kelly and Jon Gruden as their head coaches. None of those guys are going to coach in the NFL this year. Now they've got to find a new head coach and he won't be as good as the one they let go. Dumb move...

Whisenhunt isn't the first coach to lose his job because he couldn't find a QB, and he won't be the last.

I don't agree with that completely, but the Bidwills just made an idiotic choice for their GM and I'm sure they will screw up the head coaching decision too, and end up with someone worse than Whiz.
