ESPN fires Rob Parker, but not for RGIII comments

07:24 PM ET 01.08 | ESPN has fired Rob Parker following comments he made, not about Robert Griffin III, but about the network. Parker appeared on a Detroit public access channel and slammed the network, saying they had full knowledge of what he was going to say about Griffin III and they still let him on the air. ESPN hired the guy to be controversial; that's what they do now. So it's highly hypocritical that when he does something controversial, he's fired. So don't buy ESPN's explanation that it was the RGIII comments that got Parker fired, it was the flaming of ESPN that got Rob Parker canned - or so it would seem. Either way, this saga is over and done with and hopefully, ESPN will be more responsible in the future when it comes to what they choose to put on their 8 million different networks.

I think the guy said something dumb, but ESPN hired him for hid opinions, like it or not, he said what was on his mind. I don't particularly like Rob Parker, but the man didn't deserve to get fired!

B.S. He wasn't fired, his contract wasn't renewed, and it was directly related to his comments.Cornball rules, hip-hop sucks.

in a business where contracts typically are renewed automatically, non-renewal IS being fired....
