Revenge on Rodgers' mind

07:46 AM ET 01.09 | Growing up in Chico, Calif., Aaron Rodgers was a big 49ers fan, right down to wearing a Joe Montana T-shirt under his uniform. Eventually, Rodgers' heart was broken by his boyhood team when the 49ers bypassed him in the 2005 NFL draft. Now, for the first time in his professional career, Rodgers is going home. And he'll undoubtedly be looking for some payback. ...[When] San Francisco passed, Rodgers fell all the way to Green Bay at No. 24. Alex Smith, who San Francisco selected with the top pick instead of Rodgers, is the 49ers' No. 2 quarterback today. Rodgers is notorious for holding grudges, playing with a chip on his shoulder and never forgetting when he's been slighted. This, without question, was his biggest snub.

If he takes care of business this weekend he can scratch revenge for that snub off his list.

His biggest snub? His revenge? Really? Let's see, he supplanted a legend and won a Super Bowl. He's a multimillionaire. And he's a starting QB. Smith, on the other hand, has had 1.5 good years in the same amount of time, and has no Super Bowl rings. Well, he's a millionaire, too. But it sounds like Rodgers is on top in this competition.

My guess is that he's over it. If not, he's a nancy boy.

I'll bet he's not over it. Brady still tears up at the mention of him being passed over until the 6th round. They might both be Nancy boys.

And the author of this piece is looking for revenge because he's not writing for a big-city newspaper.

Seriously. Can you imagine how good the 49ers would be with Rodgers at QB with that D and running game? They'd probably be looking at their second SB in a row.

Playoffs are different O, and the 49ers haven't shown they can win a big one. Seattle seems the team to beat.

Niners messed up then--they are messing up now---benching Alex Smith (Veteran) over Harbaugh's
pet Colin--with 100 tatoo's you can't read---will pay off----in Green Bay's favor...Sure, I've been a Niner fan forever--just don't like this decision...

You're probably right. A real Nancy boy is Mark Sanchez in that Ken Doll suit they have on here every now and then.

Who is he going to take revenge against? He and Alex Smith both profess to be friends. The management that bypassed him is no longer in existence at San Francisco. He already got revenge when he won a Super Bowl.
