07:49 AM ET 01.09 | With the Falcons looming, Seattle's kicking competition has a victor. Ryan Longwell, a 15-year NFL veteran who has not been in uniform this season, will sign with [the Seahawks] after a tryout Tuesday during which he outperformed competition from three other kickers, including Neil Rackers, according to sources. The Seahawks signed Longwell for Sunday's divisional playoff game against [Atlanta] because regular kicker Steven Hauschka suffered a calf injury against the Washington Redskins and his availability is in jeopardy. The Seahawks will monitor Hauschka's performance in practice as well as the improvement on his calf before deciding whether he or Longwell is active Sunday.

If Longwell gets a jersey with his name sharpied on athletic tape, that should tell him stay will be short.

It will only be 60 minutes if they can't beat Atlanta.

If they go into Atlanta and beat the Falcons in their own dome, Matty Ice will have officially melted.

If Atlanta goes out 1st round again, no one will EVER take them serious.

Yep, especially if they get dominated like last year.

Depends if the refs let them get away with the after the whistle stuff like they are known for.

DD, I don't know about a blowout, but the Hawks are playing free, easy, aggressive and physical football with little to lose, as most fans didn't give Seattle much of a chance when the playoffs started.

I heard as of Monday morning there were still close to 11K tickets available for this weekend's game, so apparently their own fans don't take them seriously.

Should be a decent game but Marshawn Lynch could run up a 200 yd game against Atlanta. Falcons better hope that White and Jones can get past that secondary or they won't have much of a chance.

since you've most likely never been to the GA Dome for a Falcons game, let me assure you that it's sold out every week.
