Seattle next on Kings' radar?

07:54 AM ET 01.09 | The future of the Sacramento Kings, even though they have ended a flirtation with Virginia Beach, Va., remains uncertain. Virginia Beach halted its long-shot bid Tuesday to lure the Kings. But other cities, namely Seattle, remain interested in the troubled franchise. Deeply in debt, the Kings play in a badly outdated arena before the NBA's smallest crowds -- and are locked in a stalemate with Sacramento over how to remedy that. ... With the door closing in Virginia, one possible alternative is a move to Seattle, where hedge-fund manager Chris Hansen, backed by Nordstrom and Microsoft money, has a tentative deal to build a $400 million arena. A potential sticking point: Hansen wants to buy a team.

Selling the team to Chris Hansen would accomplish two goals - getting a team back in the Emerald City AND getting the Maloof's out of the NBA. Win - Win. And actually it would also allow David Stern to save some face for allowing the Sonics to be hijacked and moved to OKC.

Although their egos have trumped any common sense they may have had, money will do the job in the end. Hansen can make the pot very sweet indeed. (And of course pot is legal now in WA.)

Seattle absolutely deserves an NBA team again, they do NOT deserve the Maloofs . . . avoid.

Why haven't the Kings looked at Nashville? They have the Bridgestone Arena and it's quite nice. Its alot better then the dump they play in now. Nashiville very wealthy market and they have 2 out of the 4 professional sports teams (NHL,NFL) just like Seattle (NFL, MLB).

Really, it's good riddance to the Maloofs. An uglier pair with their lying ways would be difficult to find in any sport. I do not think this broken franchise leaving is Sacramento's loss more than Seattle's. Good luck with that, Coffee town.
