06:09 PM ET 01.09 | Knee surgery was performed on Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on Wednesday morning to repair a torn LCL and reconstruct an ACL. Jay Glazer reports that Dr. James Andrews is now hopeful that the young star will not miss any playing time from the injury that was worsened during a playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks: "Robert Griffin III had successful knee surgery early this morning. He had a direct repair of his LCL and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction. We expect a full recovery and it is everybody's hope and belief that due to Robert's high motivation, he will be ready for the 2013 season." Griffin initially injured his knee against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14. He tried to continue playing through the pain, but eventually removed himself from the game and was replaced by fellow rookie Kirk Cousins. Griffin then sat out the next game, but returned to help the Redskins finish out a seven-game winning streak and advance to the playoffs.

I sure wouldn't want to bet my franchise on whether he could keep from blowing out his knee for the THIRD time.

How about two 1st rounds picks and a 2nd rounder?

He didn't trust Cousins, and whats more the kid knows that. Hope he didn't ruin IIIs career.

Eureka!! It lives!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Of course the bits went together with cat gut and stainless steel staples holding them that way.

What is it going to do the first time it's under duress?

Potentially burning magnesium.... bright, fast, ash.....

You would think a head coach, with his experience, would have exercised more common sense.

How exactly do they measure success at this stage? Based strictly on the repairs appear to be done? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait and see how his recovery goes?

Adrian Peterson - I'd definitely call his surgery a success.

For crumbs sake, *don't* push this guy onto the field before he's *truly* ready... please?
