Cowboys defensive staff to re-interview for their jobs

08:11 PM ET 01.09 | Rob Ryan got the bloody axe yesterday and it came as a pretty big surprise. But the heads aren't done rolling in Dallas, as Jerry Jones and the front office have informed every member of the Cowboys defensive staff that they must re-interview for their current positions on the staff. Part of the motivation to re-interview the staff, aside from striking the fear of Jerry Jones in them, is the fact that the Cowboys are considering switching their defense to a 4-3 scheme. Dallas has played under the 3-4 scheme since Ryan came to town, and now that he's gone it seems Dallas is ready to erase just about every last iota of his existence.

If JJ really wants to make the Cowboys better he has to fire the current GM asap.

It totally amazes me what a complete and ignorant fool Jones is. And that is really an unfair comparison to ignorant fools everywhere. The first job that should be interviewed for is his.

How about that lousy Offensive line coach we hired?

I don't see where his guidance did much last season.

January 9, 2013  09:40 PM ET

Never liked the 3-4 as much, and some linemen have come out against it too.

Agreed. Ryan, though a loudmouth, was not the problem.

Jerry Jones made it clear - it was his decision to fire Rob Ryan.

The process of making Jason Garrett a puppet is complete.

Would that be Bill Callahan? He seems to leave teams he coaches in worse shape than they were before he got there.

I love how as GM, he still thinks he needs to seek outside counsel to help him determine the direction the team needs to go.

Only Jerry Jones...

I can only imagine... Jerry certainly doesn't make it easy for Cowboys fans.

Hang in there, Otis!

Meanwhile, I think the interview count for the Bears HC vacancy is somewhere close to 20 by now, and I'm not exaggerating by much.

Yeah... But - things could be worse, I guess.

We could be To***to Maple Leaf fans.

No doubt. Just when they thought it couldn't get any worse after a lockout...

Hard to think that team isn't just a little screwed right now.

I'll never forget an interview I did with him years ago,

when Buffalo revealed he liked to call his hockey stick "The Big Tomahawk".

He usually refers to opposing players as "The Little Scalps".

Two franchises with long histories are deserving of better. So are their fans.

So are the Maple Leafs. <sigh>
