02:26 AM ET 01.10 | With news that Robert Griffin III had successful surgery Wednesday morning to repair his partially torn ACL and LCL muscles, it's obvious that he won't be playing in this year's Pro Bowl. Instead, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will be taking RGIII's roster spot as an NFC's first alternate quarterback. While he wasn't initially chosen to the Pro Bowl team, Brees will nonetheless be attending his seventh career Pro Bowl, having made it now three years running. The last year Brees didn't play in the Pro Bowl was back in 2010 when Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo and then Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb filled the three available spots. Brees did make the team that year, but McNabb was used as a replacement since Brees was a Super Bowl participant.

Thing is back in the old days when a million a year was a top earner, Hawaii was a deal. Now most players are looking for a way off that game.

Back when a trip to the Pro Bowl meant you didn't have to start your second job for another week, the Pro Bowl meant something. Most the players now have their own exclusive condos on a beach somewhere or can get a trip to Hawaii comped by someone.
