07:48 AM ET 01.10 | No doubt, Adrian Peterson's name is bound to come up when the optimists are talking about Robert Griffin III's rehab. The quarterback's recovery will be one of the sport's top offseason story lines. When will he make it back on the field? And will he be the same? James Andrews, the orthopedist who operated on Griffin on Wednesday, said in a statement that it was hoped Griffin would be ready for the 2013 season. Some medical experts, however, said recovery could take as long as eight to 12 months. "I would guess he'll be back in November," one former NFL executive said. "I knew they'd try to say he'd be back by the [start of next] season. But I don't see it happening."

This assessment appears more realistic to me.

Just get well. We don't care how long it takes.

January 10, 2013  07:57 AM ET

Yup. Get well and return healthy.

AND CHANGE THAT DAMN OFFENSE!!!

January 10, 2013  08:02 AM ET

What, you mean have a good O-line and use their star running back?

I'm not a Redskins fan, but to see a kid like that hobble around injured for most of the game and then watch the way his leg bent was a shame. It will impact the rest of his career. I don't understand how Shanahan allows that to happen. If I was the Dan Snyder I would be out of my mind furious.

If you were Dan Snyder we'd all hate you. Count your blessings.

This. His return should be based on what the doctor's have to say, and no one else... certainly not Shanny.

I wonder how badly he'd like to fire Shanahan right now.

Take a look at the Seattle and the New Orleans offenses. Blend the best parts and come up with something that works. Both of their quarterbacks are the same type as RGIII. Read option college offense is going to get him out of the NFL fast.

January 10, 2013  08:39 AM ET

Nothing would make me happier than to not have to read about RG until August. On this page alone they have his rehab taking 6-8 weeks & 1 year. Speculate Speculate Speculate

Unconscionable...seriously.

Oh what do thes so called experts know??? Everyone recovers and heal differently, and a lot of it depends on the work ethic of the individual. I'm sick of all the so called experts and journalist who try and play god and or Nostradomous...let the situation play out and lets see then.

Another thing I believe these same people were saying the same thing about AP, and yet they were dumbfounded when he stepped back on the field...and how many experts have said oh this person only has this much time to live only to be wrong??? You know why there are so many varying opinion's from the so called experts???? Well because they don't know themselves...

This guy should wait until he's 100%, but chances are he will say he's ok and start playing before he's ready. Hopefully he will talk to other athletes and learn from their expierances as well!

January 10, 2013  09:26 AM ET

Changing the offense won't matter that much. You can get a torn ACL anytime, 70% of ACL's do not involve a collision. Stopping, starting, or a quick cut can tear it just as easily as a collison.
