07:57 AM ET 01.11 | These days, there are all manner of theories for what ails the Lakers, but defense has a lot to do with their poor record. Despite World Peace, [Kobe Bryant] and Dwight Howard all being heralded defenders previously in their careers, the Lakers' defense has continued to slip -- especially without Howard because of his shoulder injury the past two games. ... The perimeter players haven't been consistently staying in front of ball-handlers either. And the Lakers' rotations remain inconsistent, including mistakes from Kobe Bryant, who has felt renewed license to roam for steals since Mike Brown's no-gambling defense went out the door. But transition defense is the main problem. Defensive rebounding is one, too.

Has any team in the history of the NBA ever fired two coaches in the same season? Is this Lakers team a candidate for such an occurance?
