08:00 AM ET 01.11 | Is Boston narrowing its focus? For the second time in a week, the Red Sox have scouted right-hander Javier Vazquez. Multiple major league sources confirmed [Thursday] that the Red Sox were among the teams that attended Vazquez' start Wednesday night for Caguas of the Puerto Rican Winter League. According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Chicago White Sox and Washington Nationals also dispatched scouts to watch the 36-year-old, who still is deciding whether to come out of retirement and pitch this season. Vazquez, who is planning to pitch for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic in March, was effective Wednesday night, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out 10 in six innings.

QUOTE(#1):

The only caveat is that the winning pitcher in the game was Juan Agosto from the '83 ChiSox, who pitched a 23 K perfect game.

^^ Pretty funny ^^

This guy is a 50 game suspension waiting to happen. Takes a year off and at 36 years old, suddenly starts hitting 95 mph on the gun? Sounds like the Bartolo Colon story, Part 2.

It ain't real until it shows up on a drug test. But I hear you.

The real question is what he needs to get a batter out. If he's relying on youthful speed, then I'd pass him up. If his ball has a lot of hop and he can thread a needle, then age doesn't matter as much.

He'll definitely get signed if he wants to play. He just needs to stay out of the big markets. The pressure rattles him
