Heat rising on Boras

08:01 AM ET 01.11 | Three of the top remaining free agents -- Michael Bourn, Kyle Lohse and Rafael Soriano -- have something in common: Scott Boras. When this offseason began, it would have been tough to convince someone that three premier free agents still would be on the market in the second week of January. But because [Boras] represents all three, perhaps it wouldn't have been all that difficult. Still, it is fairly safe to assume Boras didn't believe he'd have three top clients waiting by their phones, hoping to land some sort of deal this late in the game. These players might have overestimated their values to a point where their options are now extremely limited. So much, in fact, that they might have to go through this process again next offseason.

Boras will probably hit paydirt with Ellsbury next year, if he has a season anywhere like he had in 2011.

Yep. The dollars and years I have read that Boras is asking for Bourn and Lohse in particular, are absolutely absurd.

I believe all 3 are tied to draft pick compensation as well. Boras may have underestimated new rule impact

Soriano screwed up big time. He should have taken his oprtion with NY. He's taking a pay cut this year.

Lohse turn down 13 million from the Cards to pitch this season, Bourn is asking for a deal that would pay him around 16 million a year and all of his strikeouts that comes with it. Bottom line here is thanks to the GM's for finally standing up against God Boras, because he is slowly ruining baseball for the fans to be able to afford to keep going to the games.

Only thing I would add is we were all having the same discussion about Fielder last year and he signed a huge contract (Largest the tigers have ever given) on January 26th last year. (See Boras smiling) Doubt the evil one at your own peril.....

Other "Late" Signings:
In January 2010, Boras negotiated a seven-year, $120 million contract with the St. Louis Cardinals for Matt Holliday, the largest contract in team history.
In January 2009, Boras negotiated a four-year, $60 million contract with the Atlanta Braves for Derek Lowe and a three-year, $36 million contract with the New York Mets for ??liver P??rez.
In February 2009, Boras secured a two-year, $45 million deal for Manny Ramirez with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Maybe he just takes the December holiday's off

Woops, the irony is that he's wanting teams to forfeit a first rounder the the alloted money and then he wants teams to pay over slot for draft picks. It's a double edged sword and he's falling on it, hard! Soriano is in big trouble, nobody is touching him for a first rounder and the $14m per he wants. He goes back to the Yankees to set up for $10m and Boras get fired!

Bourn could still play left-field in Atlanta. At a discount...
