Tallon: 'We're going to win a championship'

08:08 AM ET 01.11 | Credit Panthers GM Dale Tallon for his optimism. Tallon will bring 29 players into training camp (tentatively set for Sunday], including proven goal-scorers Alex Kovalev and Marek Svatos, to compete for the few spots that are open with the losses of Mikael Samuelsson, John Madden and Marco Sturm. ... After transforming the Panthers from a last-place team to Southeast Division champions in his first two years at the helm, Tallon has no plans of resting on his laurels. "We gave [the fans] good value last year and that's what we hope to do this year," Tallon said. "We believe in them, hopefully, they believe in us, and we're going to win some hockey games and win a championship."

Made the playoffs last year, still have a deep farm, solid goaltending coming up.It might not be in South Florida when it does, but this team will contend soon.

Is Bettman moving them to Phoenix?

I'll give you that Danny, so it's Hamilton/Quebec City (via Florida) Stanley Cup Champions in 2015?

They will push I imagine though, a young team with fresh legs and short season... anything is possible...

is that for location or the # of folks in the arena?

Oh Dale....I really appreciate your enthusiasm....but let's keep our expectations realistic. Let's concentrate on getting back to the playoffs and getting out of the first round for the first time since 1996, okay? Let's take it one step at a time, shall we?
I like what he's done so far -- granted, compared to what Jacques Martin and Mike Keenan did prior to him, that's not saying much. And hopefully now that we have a GM with half a brain and ownership finally willing to do SOMETHING to improve the team, we'll see some real progress in a positive direction.

And more, I'm shocked that T&R actually has a Panther player in the picture....I am surprised they didn't have a Carolina Panther picture in there!

They won't, and they'll be moved off soon enough... or if the many minds around here they'd be a nominee for contraction...

When pop gun offense is the way to win they have a shot.

Until then, not.
