03:41 PM ET 01.11 | Monte Kiffin will be the Dallas Cowboys' next defensive coordinator, according to a report from ESPN's Ed Werder. Kiffin comes to Dallas after spending the last four seasons as a defensive coordinator at the college level. He resigned from his post at Southern Cal in November. Kiffin has extensive NFL assistant coaching experience dating back to the 1980s. He got his start with the Green Bay Packers as their linebackers coach in 1983, and he received his first job as a defensive coordinator from the Minnesota Vikings in 1991. He would later move on to New Orleans and Tampa Bay, where he was the defensive coordinator from 1996 through 2008. His efforts helped the Bucs win Super Bowl XXXVII.

He'll be a good hire.

Bring Lane along for a two for one hire - that has worked well in Tennessee and USC. He is a great defensive coordinator I am surprised he has not had as much success in the college ranks. Maybe the NFL is where he belongs

Ol Monte will show them how its done along with Ol Jerry!!!!!

Haven't seen Rob Ryan's name bandied about much. Maybe the league finally discovered that he and his brother are both vastly over-rated.

Monte Kiffin is a Cowboy

He does look like the Marlboro Man.

If you can't outsmart kids fresh out of high school with your schemes on the collegiate level how can you expect this man to do it against Eli and RG3? This old dude isn't the same one who produced those memorable defenses of past seasons.

<fingers crossed>

I just read that Monte interviewed with both Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones. Did Jason have to raise his hand to get permission to talk?

He had no choice IMO.

Good start by JJ, but I truly hope they bring in another QB to challenge Romolicious or @ least light a fire to execute the offense better.

If I were a Cowboys fan I'd be furious over this hire.

Didn't know the Cowboys use Social Security recipients as a pre-requisite for a job.
