03:47 PM ET 01.11 | The NFLPA made an informal inquiry into the Washington Redskins' handling of Robert Griffin III's knee injury on Jan. 8. The Redskins faced much scrutiny after conflicting media reports about the communication between coach Mike Shanahan and Dr. James Andrews. After Dr. Andrews and the Redskins handed over a detailed report on the process of sideline reviews, NFLPA director DeMaurice Smith seemed satisfied with the results. "Playing through pain is a harsh reality of our business and our union will always hold the League and the clubs accountable to the best medical care. Our thoughts are with Robert as he recovers from his surgery and we hope he returns to full strength."

Dr. Andrew's comment about Griffin not being cleared to return to play were about the injury in the Ravens game in week 14.
"Kneedless" to say, the Skins made a mistake bringing him back too soon and leaving him in against Seattle when he was clearly hobbled and ineffective.

Sure seems that way. It shouldn't inspire a lot of confidence in getting support from the NFLPA in regards to players' safety. Playing through pain is one thing. Playing when clearly hobbled is quite another.
