10:13 AM ET 01.12 | Ilya Kovalchuk reportedly has a plan for when he will return to the Devils, but it's not exactly the answer the team wanted to hear. According to the Russian news outlet Sport-Express, Kovalchuk said yesterday he will fly to New Jersey on Tuesday in order to rejoin his NHL team. The team is expected to open training camp tomorrow. Kovalchuk will participate in this weekend's all-star festivities of the KHL, where he has played during the four-month lockout. "I have contractual obligations to New Jersey," Kovalchuk said, as translated by Google. "I will carry them out. ... Russian fans deserve to see the [KHL] playoffs, with the participation of all the best Russian players. I gladly would have been one of them, but there are circumstances in which we can not influence."

This really shouldn't bother Devils fans. However, this should.
Zach Parise will not be at Devils' camp.
Canuck eh?

Wow this is shocking, he is playing in an all-star game in Russian on Sunday and camp starts on Sunday. I thought he was going to play in the game, call Superman have him fly around the earth to set back time, then get to Devils camp on time.

What will be the excuse Devils fans use now that 1 of their premiere players went somewhere else, again ??

We don't have excuses, some great players go, some stay. Players like Gomez and Holik chased the money. Players like Rafalski, Parise and Nieds either went home to play or play with their family. NOthing every other team doesn't go through. 5 Finals appearances in less then 2 decades with a sprinkle of cups in there says Lou's philosophy, while maddening, works. Good thing for the Devils is, Lou finds a way.

Since this is comment number 2929 for me and I'm represented by Ken Dryden I'll take this time to say that due to the ridiculous signings made by the Minnesota Wild, the only person I'm really pulling for on that club is goaltender Josh Harding...

When your agent said there's an offer from Sather and the Rangers 5-10 years ago you'd be an idiot not to listen
