01:51 PM ET 01.12 | The NHL schedule is expected to be released on Saturday, with most teams putting single game tickets on sale Sunday. While we don't know exactly who's playing whom for the 42-game season ahead of us, we do know one thing: if you're a kid and you're a Dallas Stars fan, you're going to see the games for free. Late Friday night the Dallas Stars officially announced their "Free Tickets for Kids" program, which offers free tickets to any child 12 years of age or under with the purchase of an adult single game ticket. Many NHL teams are having to roll up their sleeves and bite the bullet when it comes to generous offers to fans. After the lockout sliced up a large portion of the season, franchises everywhere are beginning to try and make fans offers they can't refuse. The Pittsburgh Penguins will be having a free food program, and many teams are offering steep discounts on team merchandise. The Dallas Stars partnered with 7-11 to offer fans the deal, which will run from January through February.

Actually, all the fans won't be whining in April about how idiotically long the season is.

The Stars are at least giving breaks on SOME tickets. The best that the hockey geniuses in the Avalanche front office have come up with is a free T-shirt if you UPGRADE your season tickets. Sheer marketing genius.
