10:14 AM ET 01.13 | Bill Cowher insists he's staying in the studio and not returning to the sideline. Cowher says Saturday on CBS' "The NFL Today" that he has no plans to coach in the NFL, a few days after telling Newsday that he probably would come back at some point. The 55-year-old Cowher is an analyst for CBS who coached the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1992-2006. He won a Super Bowl after the 2005 season. Cowher says he plans "on being with one team, and that is this team here at CBS. I know we are going to the Super Bowl." In a published report Tuesday, he said that returning to coaching after a long layoff is motivation for him to come back, but hadn't been contacted by any teams looking for a new coach.

I would like to see him on the sideline again, but whatever the guys wants to do is his business.
He did a great job with the Steelers.

How much money do you think he makes as an analyst for CBS yearly???

Why would he want to go back to the NFL? I assume he's making good money at CBS for, wait for it, TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL. There is absolutely no stress in his current position. If the ratings aren't there and CBS dismisses him, he'll be out of an analyst position for maybe five minutes.

What ever it is it is tooooooo much. I hate the fact that Television makes things a little to comfortable for some decent coaches.
Cowher lost a bit of my respect when he said that staying with CBS would be a sure way to get to the Super Bowl. What it says to me is that Cowher really doesn't want to coach unless the US treasury mints a $1,000,000,000,000.00 coin and gives it to Cowher, or that he only wants to coach a team that has all the parts in place and has a 70% chance of making to the playoffs, no coaching involved just riding the coattails. I can understand Jimmy Johnson retiring, as a matter of fact I'm surprised that Jerry Jones didn't send Johnson to an early grave. Why is Cowher on the air ? The guy is a bump on the log------ not a what you would call a TV personality. Mariucci has the personality but frankly I wish he were coaching somewhere. We saw the Mora was honest when he said he wanted to coach, even if it meant coaching a college team. I get the feeling that Brian Billick is also serious about coaching a team again.

He lost credibility for saying that staying with CBS was a sure , and easy, trip to the Super Bowl for him. Hey if all he wants to do is be in the same stadium where the Super Bowl is being held then let him buy a ticket.

If the Panthers don't improve and make the playoffs I can see Richardson breaking the bank and pursuing Cowher

Cowher probably enjoys having a life and not sleeping at the office. Pretty soon the broadcast booths will have nothing but former coaches. I bet guys will go into coaching just so they can break into broadcasting. That tells you something about coaching.

Good gawd enough of Cowher and Gruden already! Took them light years just to get rings. There are a lot of young and inexpensive coaches out there.
