01:19 PM ET 01.13 | With the 2013 NHL schedule being released, we are starting to focus on some key dates from the NHL calendar. The action-packed, 48-game schedule will go on until late June and has forced the league to change their initial draft plans. The NHL has agreed on a date for the 2013 NHL Draft that will begin soon after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Finals, which could run through June 28. Instead of the normal two-round event, the NHL will host a one-day draft marathon on June 30. The 2013 NHL Draft will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., but first, there is a season of hockey that needs to be played.

so the playoffs will end june 28th, and the draft will be june 30th...that sounds extremely stupid, I don't know why they didn't just push the draft back a few weeks, as well as free agency. Either way, I hope my team can land a top 3 pick again.

And they hope to get this all done in one day?.....good luck with that.

Even though potf won the Burke's firing pool, we still have to deal with the Leafs elimination one with a shorter season and a compressed conference-only schedule. Before the Butt-plug-imposed mess known as the lockout, we had the following entries based on an 82-game schedule ending on April 14. Feel free to submit a new date more in line with the new schedule or keep the one you had regardless. Or join if you hadn't already. If you don't submit a change by Saturday morning, you'll have the date you picked originally.

I'm feeling pretty good about my pick. With a shortened schedule and the 'everybody gets a point mentality, even if the Leafs end up 10th-12th, they'll still probably only end up like 2-5 points behind the cut-off

Sorry, but I got a feeling Montreal's pushing for a playoff spot this year. If they can swing in a decent d-man or 2, they're locks for it.

I think the same. At least if they make the playoffs there's something to show. So....playoffs or if it's not looking good call up the ahl squad to tank (I'm becoming everything I hate, in theory i'm completely against this

It shouldn't take THAT long. Slim pickings after the first round anyway. Just close your eyes and throw a dart at the board (hopefully missing the board and hitting the dwarf in the forehead repeatedly). :-)

Ironically, (and I do cop to being a closet leafs fan by the way) my wife bought me Habs jersey for christmas. I want to get one of each orig. 6.
Alas, I already had one (missing 3....Bruins, Wings and....RANGERS?...don't ask) so I gave the olde one to my son, and I get the new one

On the topic of sports jerseys, I own a whopping 6 sports jerseys; my habs jersey from my childhood (patrick roy on the back), a 1993 Roy jersey with the finals patches, a wool throwback with a number 9 on the back, and a newer reebok version, player name yet to be determined (i'm thinking maybe patches, we'll see how the season goes.

The 5th is a pro all-star jersey with sakic on the back, I use it for hockey and it smells horrible. It was from the first season reebok had the jersey contract, it was the original material supposed to be used, but after player complaints they made a second batch so I ended up with the jersey while working at reebok (same goes for the roy vintage and the reebok jersey).

The 6th is my go to pond-hockey jersey, it's from the Swiss league, a gift from a friend in Zurich.

My 'Hawks Tony Esposito that my wife bought for my 50th b'day is my fav
I also have:
Hartford whalers
Olde versions of:
Peroia Rivermen
Milwaukee Admirals (the nice one, not the huge head. Red/blue coloured)
Cleveland Crusaders
Exeter Academy
I bought a Seals jersy some years ago, but it never arrived and I didn't realise it till to late....

I think number 1 on my list is a team Canada jersey, but I hate the current unis, so it's have to be some sort of throwback, so we'll wait & see if Nike ever puts out something I like. They did a decent burgundy false-throwback the other year that I was disappointed the juniors didn't wear in competition. I regretted not picking it up.

The Espo Hawks jersey is pretty sweet, I wouldn't mind owning one of those.
