08:08 AM ET 01.14 | Even though he spent some time in baseball purgatory, stuck between the Dodgers and Red Sox, Rubby De La Rosa remained the prized piece heading to Boston. De La Rosa was among 11 prospects invited last week to the Red Sox' rookie development camp. And although he may open the season at Triple-A Pawtucket, it isn't expected to be long before he makes an impact on the major league pitching staff. For now, the Sox view him as a starter. And why not? De La Rosa made 10 starts for the Dodgers in 2011 and posted a 3.71 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings. Before injuring his elbow, he was well-armed with a fastball that approached 100 mph and a changeup taught to him in 2008 by maestro Pedro Martinez.

Hard for me to think baseball right now with all the football that took place yesterday. I missed the SF-GB game. Was rooting for Seattle to pull out a victory and that fell apart in seconds. The Patriots were looking pretty awesome on offense. It's amazing how they lose a man or two and plug in the reserves and they perform too. Thouroughly impressed yesterday.

Beckett is on the down side of his career. I don't think LA is expecting much from him. But Ramirez will only be 29 next year. I wouldn't write him off quite yet.

Why? Just because the safety was hitting on the sideline reporter and the cornerback thought they were playing Marco Polo and had his eyes closed? Geez. That ball had enough hang time that they could have gone to a commercial waiting for it to come down. Rumor has it the safety was over hear practicing "Would you like fries with that?" after the game.
