08:18 AM ET 01.14 | One of the NHL's burning questions, let alone Calgary's, is now off limits. Media members were warned -- this is the final chance to bring up Jarome Iginla's contract status. After Sunday's gathering, all inquiries about the Calgary Flames captain's future with the club will be met with frowns and mutterings, rolled eyes and hot collars. Perhaps even a noogie or two. Scorn will be risked. So, according to general manager Jay Feaster and Iginla, this was it. ... But the fact of the matter is, Iginla, 35, is in the final months of his deal. Meaning, like it or not, it is an issue. And will be till he signs, or doesn't. But what the team and the player want to avoid is a headline-hogging sideshow.

Why the eff didn't this team just effing rebuild?! Why do we need two moribund, hopeless, empty, dumb franchises in this country? Seriously, I figure at this point, other GMs and owners look at the Leafs and say "Hey, these guys just laid the blueprint of what NOT to do for a decade! Now all WE have to do is the exact opposite." I mean, even the Islanders have some hope for the near future. How hard is this?

Iginla finishes the season elsewhere I think, especially if Calgary isn't in the hunt (I know, real stretch there Spiny!)

you took the words out of my mouth. there's no reason Iggy should still be in Calgary.

Would love to see him in a Pens' uniform for a year, but that is just wishful thinking. ;)

I was looking at the Bruins schedule yesterday with some friends and we were amazed. They (and every other team I'm sure) have two days off between games only a couple of times between Saturday and the end of the season. Other than that it's pretty much a game every other night for 3 months.

The team doctors and trainers are going to really earn their money this year.

If they would do this far more during a regular season ,we could avoid having to have our home air conditioning on when the Cup final is on.

Sounds like "His Roundness" Feaster would also like to wear the vacant "His Irkness" crown.

I haven't seen that Visa commercial for a while Harry but I bet they're still flying the flag half staff.

I'll take your word for it, HC. I just don't want to be anywhere near the bathroom when he's using the toilette.
