08:19 AM ET 01.14 | John Tortorella was, at long last, back in his element Sunday, "screaming, yelling, correcting," said Ryan McDonagh. Tortorella is facing high expectations this season, higher than anything he's known before at the Garden. The Rangers are the best team in hockey on paper, or at least the best in the East. They are returning everybody important, their young defensemen are a year older and they added a potent scorer in Rick Nash. Tortorella has four-line depth, a top goaltender in Henrik Lundqvist. He also has a healthy roster in mid-January, a rarity. Not a single bone is bruised yet from blocking shots. "We have the team to do it, but we have to prepare, execute, handle expectations from outside and inside the locker room," Lundqvist said about a title run.

I just wonder if any team from this divison is going to go into the playoffs in one piece after playing each other so much over the next three months.

I was wondering the same. I can't speak to the West, but in the East, there are a lot of tough, olde rivalries
NYR/NJD/PIT/PHIL/CAPS/BRUINS
lots of bruising.....

man I wish they played these games on paper instead of ice....

Habs sneak in through the backdoor and make a run for the cup...

buzz....buzzz....buzz....

oh, ****, my alarm just went off. What a pleasant dream.

NYRs are gonna be one tough team. Originally had tickets to see them match up against the Pens, but because of the schedule change, gotta watch the Pens play Winnipeg instead. Sigh. So it goes. Would have been a better game Pens vs. Rangers.

My wife is also looking to get tickets....

The NHL's best team (on paper)

I personally love these types of articles. So and so is the best team on paper nobody should beat them or if they lose they lost the other team won.

Paper don't mean dookie when the playoffs start

Maybe you'll get to see Cooke v Kane, the rematch? I know I,d pay to watch Kane knock him out again.

Cooke is a good boy now. Not worried about it.

Just happy to get to see some hockey.

the teams that play the "BTOP" use it as motivation..."oh, so they're better than us huh?"
The BOTP hates it for several reasons...it's just irresponsible and stupid. I stopped reading that paper after 45+ years because it just got stupider and stupider...it runs a close 2nd (or so) to Murdoch's rag now...but they have to appeal to their readership i suppose

I know I just really hate these articles in general it's an opinion piece that is projected as an actual article. Unfortunately it is not just the NY Daily just about every news source does it.

January 14, 2013 09:39 AM ET

Seems that the best team in hockey right now is the LA Kings. It's their name on the Cup after all.

Team that won it all, has the same team in place. But according to NY papers, the Rangers are better. Oh, OK
