03:30 PM ET 01.14 | The record number of underclassmen forgoing their final years of eligibility to go pro continues to grow. The latest early entry is Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Cierre Wood, who announced his intentions to enter the 2013 NFL Draft today. Wood was expected to enter the NFL Draft, so the news comes as no surprise. In 2012, Wood rushed for 742 yards and four touchdowns while averaging an impressive 6.7 yards per carry. During his career at Notre Dame, he totaled 2,447 yards and 16 touchdowns. The 6-foot, 215-pound recorded the 16th 1,000-yard rushing season in 2011. Wood is a well-rounded running back and could be a day two selection.

Makes one wonder just how many of the seniors and underclassmen entering the NFL draft will actually get a job in the NFL. Anyone got recent stats? piratey?

Pretty much all RB's should leave school early if they get a sniff of the first 2-3 rounds. Tread on the tires is so limited for most of them.

He is not leaving early, he is a senior, who has graduated but has another year of eligiblity left (5th year). He is not an underclassmen.

He and BK were not always on the same page so it is probably a mutual decision.
