06:22 PM ET 01.14 | While the Hornets certainly had higher hopes for the 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft, guard Austin Rivers' struggles haven't caused GM Dell Demps to panic just yet. Demps says that he likes the way the Duke product competes, and his contributions haven't always shown up in the box scores this season. Rivers is averaging 6.3 points per game on 33 percent shooting this season. "The thing I will say about him is that he???s competes," Demps said. "Some nights he's not making shots, but his dribble penetration is creating shots for other guys. Sometimes he'll draw three or four guys, he'll shoot it and misses it, but somebody else was able to grab the weak side rebound, so sometimes the stat sheet doesn't look as good as his production. The thing is I see him before practice working, after practice working. He hasn't given up and he's fighting and he's trying and it's his rookie season."
