'Skins schedule riding on RGIII recovery

07:49 AM ET 01.15 | Not only is much of the Redskins' longterm future riding on Robert Griffin III, but also the 2013 schedule. The league is working on the schedule right now and you can be certain that they will be following the news surrounding the rehab to the right knee of [Griffin] every bit as closely as any Redskins fan or beat writer will. ... No offense to [Kirk Cousins], who is capable of doing a good job holding down the fort while Griffin heals up, but the networks are going to be hesitant to give a precious prime-time slot to an RG3-less Redskins team. The solution for the networks would be to backload the more attractive games into the latter part of the season when there is a reasonably good chance that Griffin will be back.

That's okay.... We don't need the national attention.

If Griffin isn't ready to play opening day, that's fine. Just get him healthy. Cousins can hold down the fort for a few weeks.

Good idea...

Keep the butler hidden. Then around Week 8...

This will end up Cousins team if Griffin can't stay healthy. He's actually a pretty good QB.

Makes for a looooooooong day for fans, too.

I hope the Skins have learned their lesson and will not bring back RG3 too early next year, regardless of the pressure from the networks or anywhere else. He is just too good a player and too good for the league to risk ending his career prematurely.

Get better and Slide!!!!!!!!

RG3 should look at film of Cam Newton, who has played two full seasons and has not gotten injured. He knows how to make defenders miss, and he knows when to get on the ground.

Yeah, hours of being trapped on the coach drinking beer. It's horrible.

Cam is big enough to take those hits. Defenders have to be prepared when trying to tackle him, and in the last second he can make a shifty move to keep going.... The R isn't as big as Cam and defenders just look for a chance to tee off on him. He simply has to stop giving them the chance.

When he got injured he was sliding, and Ngata just guessed at the angle and caught him just right. He suffered a concusion on a similar play where the defender just guessed where he was going. Maybe he should slide a few steps earlier.

I don't like them either. It really is the only downside to having the Pats be damn good for so long, they get too many Sunday and Monday night games for my tastes.

I'll take it.

And I hope they continue to schedule who-cares games on Thursdays.

Except Jets-Pats on Thanksgiving night. A national audience for Sanchez's famed buttfumble play? Priceless.

When I was in England, MNF games came on at 1:00 AM. Working nights had it's benefits... the skip from Germany was clean and we could listen unimpeded.

Good points. I agree, RG3 has got to be coached to play safer and run with less abandon.

Have you noticed that the 'majority' of Awards shows start at 8-9 pm EST? *That's* so the 'bigwigs' on the West Coast can go to celebration parties afterwards. I worked 31 years, retired Dec.3, 2010 - which was a Friday. That Sunday I watched the 'complete' Sunday night game on NBC, even stayed up for the post game show.
