Phillies desperate for Brown to prove himself

08:00 AM ET 01.15 | Ruben Amaro Jr. isn't unlike a lot of Phillies fans these days. [Amaro] looks at the Phillies and, like you, he doesn't know what to expect in 2013. If this is unsettling just one month before players report for spring training, it is the nature of how things are going to be for a while. ... The outfield risk is serious, too, with the Phillies desperately hoping [Domonic Brown] will settle down and earn the regular right-field job. Brown's career has been marked with the asterisk of injury, but when you keep having freakish injuries, after a while they aren't freakish. As for the others, the odds are not great that [Darin Ruf] can hit major-league pitching consistently right away and play an acceptable left field.

Domonic Brown should be the least of their worries. Straight off the bat:
1) The Phillies roster is an aging mess
2) Ryan Howard's remaining contract is one of the worst in baseball

the rookie dominic brown was like a thunderlight one year ago, and now the GM its asking to better hurry up and play a serious baseball,, but too many ugly injuries wouldn't allow him to play freely!!

the phillies are too old indeed and the young players are too hesitant to play hard every game,,who should make the first move in the phillies roster???

QUOTE(#1):

Brown is a below average hitter and defender so far...he still has time to develop, but it's starting to run short.

his time would get shorted and shorted,, and before he really knows?? he could become a free agent and be signed by the marlins to a minor league contract,,,

those rookies in the phillies organization had been flatout wonder why>??ever since the peds have been forbidden rookies tend to collapse eirlier on their careers,,,

The same story line could have been written in 2011 and 2012. In nearly 500 plate appearances over the past 3 seasons, he really hasn't shown anything so far. Frankly, even his AAA numbers haven't been all that impressive over the last couple of years.

Because of those two opinions, Dom Brown really needs to produce for the Phils.
