08:04 AM ET 01.15 | The Kevin O'Neill era at USC ended Monday, with Pat Haden finally making clear what many expected. An excellent candidate lives within driving distance. He is a recognizable name who has an extremely close connection with a talented player or two. Better yet, he isn't working. But Mike Brown is likely to re-enter the NBA before the end of the season. Still, Haden can't lose by calling him. The same is true of Butler's Brad Stevens, New Mexico's Steve Alford or Notre Dame's Mike Brey. ... Haden would seem to have a more realistic chance to hire UNLV's Dave Rice or Colorado's Tad Boyle. In particular, Boyle has proved he can recruit Southern California, and Colorado won last year's Pac-12 tournament.

We ride out the year, then go after someone like Boyle. Always wondered why we couldn't get a good, young coach for hoops. Hopefully now is the time.

Did you happen to catch the UNLV/NM from last week? On the baseline right by UNLV's bench a NM student pushed Runnin' Rebels PG Anthony Marshall. AM got pretty p!ssed after that happened. Although the student was removed from the building.
