04:50 PM ET 01.15 | Brian Kelly has declined very heavy interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, but that doesn't mean he's a lock to stay at Notre Dame for more than another season or two. His success at multiple programs and apparent ambition combine to have Irish fans hopeful he'll stick around, but getting their worrying in ahead of time.

Can't wait to see the sheet fits when Kelly leaves town.

I've been saying that Kelly has the "little-man's syndrome" (they call it ambition) and that is driving him. I really think he is a no-win situation. It will be hard for the Domers to have as successful a season next year but will be expected to. He's probably looking around for something else to do but being the Irishman that he is, there is no better college gig available or maybe not at all. I think he's hesitant to put his big-boy pants on and dive into the NFL. What's a Domer to do?

BTW Domers: what's with those Cylon-like gold helmets this year?

Not sure I understand all the controversy?
He had an offer, turned it down. Every successful person has such opportunities.
Someday he may leave, but not now.
I can't wait for next season, so we can kick USC around again, Ice!

Very LOR esq there SportsFun. There will come a day when Brian Kelly will leave South Bend for the glory of the NFL...but it is not this day!

Correction: Did the Eagles make an offer to BK, if so was he the second choice behind Chip Kelly???

The comments from Philadelphia sounded like it was more serious than a first date just looking each other over.
Some of us Domers feel the HC position at ND is the ultimate coaching position, and anyone who considers going elsewhere is a traitor. Yet, most of us know someone who accepted another job offer so why not an ND coach if he wants a new challenge?
BK is in a good position right now with a strong team returning who want to prove they can compete against the SEC, a great recruiting class, and a stable group of Asst. Coaches. I'm guessing, just guessing, that he also wants to stay around a few more years to do two things: win a NC, and beat Saban/Alabama, preferably in an NC game.
Sooner or later he may go to the NFL, not for money but for another challenge. Nothing wrong with that if he leaves a strong program behind, and even better if he grooms an appropriate successor, perhaps Diaco.

Word is, some of the people on your campus did not take kindly to Kelly looking into another job. Apparently they feel the domer job is above everything else. Even a pro job.

Supposedly Dan Devine was once asked that the Head Coach of Notre Dame reportedly had the third toughest job in the world behind the President of the United States and the Mayor or New York to which he replied ..."How did the Mayor of New York get in there...?"

See my post #7 above, Ice.
I agree, some are upset but the media is making more of it than most ND fans.
Time to move on to next season, when we take the Trojans to school in S. Bend! :-)

Good giggley wiggley, people. Kelly went to Philly for a little down time. Think of it like this:

"Hey, Brian! Arguably, you've got the most stressful job in CFB, and the Crimson Tide just handed it to your Irish team in the BCS NCG. What are you going to do, now?"

"I'm going to Philly to judge the cheese steak competition between Pat's & Geno's. Heck, I may even wind up directing traffic. I'll pay a professional courtesy visit to the folks at the Eagles, but this visit is about the cheese steaks!"

"So, Brian, how do you like yours?"

"Wit' onions. Provolone. Cheese whiz is kids stuff."

"Thank you, Coach. Eat one - or two - for me!"

Maybe after a losing season next couple of years....... the ND faithful will solve the problem by running him out of town.
