05:38 PM ET 01.15 | Ricky Rubio's road to recovery has been full of ups and downs so far, and that's true when only considering the time he's spent since returning to game action. The Minnesota Timberwolves point guard is averaging 3.8 points and 4.6 assists per game, and he's far from having the same swagger of last season before suffering an ACL injury. He's still coping with pain, according to NBA.com, and he is still being limited in his minutes. "I talk with the guys who had the same injury and they say about a year, a year-and-a-half [after surgery] they started feeling, like, normal," Rubio told NBA.com. "It's tough when you???re playing with something in your mind; you don't want to think about it, but it's in your mind that you're going slower and you are not who you used to be."

He'll be fine. He'll get better and closer to his old self as the season goes along.

He's always been soft. I watched him a bit in Europe and I knew there was no way he'd be able to deal with the physical NBA. Plus, assist stats are padded there. He's not as good -- much less durable -- than most thought.

QUOTE(#5):

He's always been soft......

Which explains him holding back.
.
Also, we have no idea to what degree he ATTACKED the weights during his rehab. You can't expect to come back strong from an ACL tear when you don't go to the absolute limit when strengthening your legs.
.
That's what Dujuan Blair did. He11.....his legs are so strong and muscled that he doesn't even have ACLs.....in either knee.....and he's held up fine. And Derrick Rose? He's put on 20 LBs of muscle during rehab.
.
But Rubio looks (physically) like the same skinny kid we saw last year. I don't think he really put in the work; and that's why he's having trouble bouncing back.
