Miami Heat fans sue Spurs for resting healthy players

11:16 PM ET 01.15 | When the San Antonio Spurs ruffled some feathers at the NBA's league office by resting their healthy starters in a nationally televised game against the Miami Heat, the reaction was polarizing. Some scoffed at the move, but most of the reaction was directed at David Stern acting as through the Spurs had just beaten his kitten half to death. Stern decided that a $250,000 fine was in order, and that was the final punishment for the Spurs' "rebellious" act. But local Miami lawyer Larry McGuinness isn't satisfied with that punishment and has filed a lawsuit against the Spurs in a Miami-Dade County court. The suit basically says that Gregg Popovich cheated the paying audience out of what they thought they were paying for. Despite the fact that a rag-tag team of backups put the Miami Heat and their starters on the ropes, McGuinness is arguing that the fans in attendance that night didn't get a good game and deserve their money back.

Too funny! I can't wait for this to get tossed out of court. When it does, look for the Spurs to contest the fine by Stern. A court ruling against lawyer Larry's lawsuit could be Stern's worst nightmare.

I hope this lawyer wins this lawsuit so I can sue all the bars I went to when I was younger for all the nights I went there with expectations of getting lucky, especially if I spent enough on drinks for myself and the ladies, but I went home by myself.

This is what Stern was trying to avoid by fining the Spurs. Since there is no precedence for this case, it may change the entire refund chart for NBA if this guy wins or if the NBA has to settle the case. Especially if it grows to a class action.
