Dodgers consider chasing Rolen

07:57 AM ET 01.16 | In 40 career games at Dodger Stadium, Scott Rolen has batted .338 with a .955 OPS, which may make for a nice fit for the third baseman. The Dodgers have had internal discussions about whether to pursue [Rolen], according to a person familiar with the team's thinking. The team has not reached out to Rolen to gauge his interest, the person said. Rolen previously has preferred to play close to his Indiana home. With dozens of free agents unsigned as spring training approaches, the Dodgers are evaluating which available players might fit their needs. The potential interest in Rolen underscores the uncertainty on the left side of the Dodgers' infield. Rolen, 37, batted .245 with eight home runs in 92 games for the Cincinnati Reds last season.

If he only hit .245 in that cracker box park in Cincy, why would the Dodgers even consider bringing in for a season at 37.

You can have him.......He can only back up Todd Frazier at 3rd now.....and plus he spends half the year on the DL.

The Dodgers have a very good third baseman now, Hanley Ramirez. Unfortunately, he's playing shortstop. Luis Cruz batted .297 last year and is a better shortstop. Not pictured: Scott Rolen.

With the Reds being loaded with very good young players, Rolen knows his days are done in Cincinnati unless he wants to play about once a week or be used as a pitch hitter, and if thats the case he would take a big pay cut
