08:08 AM ET 01.16 | Michigan's Vincent Smith has another take on the hit seen 'round the world, the one where South Carolina star Jadeveon Clowney had his signature moment of an outstanding season. Now, a couple of weeks after the hit, he said he didn't even really feel it, evidenced by his reaching for the ball as he was falling to the ground and popping up right after. It looked, he said, worse than it was. "Oh yeah, it did," Smith said. "I saw it and was like, 'Dang.'" ... It might not have looked pretty, but Vincent Smith is doing just fine. "You've got to get it out of your head because I'm going to bounce back and turn it into a positive," Smith said. "I saw it later on ESPN and yeah, he got me. And I forgot about it."

Didn't feel the hit?
Then why did you drop the ball?

January 16, 2013  08:32 AM ET

People that get hit by trains usually don't feel it. I think.

January 16, 2013  08:32 AM ET

He didn't say anything until now because he just woke up.

I can understand the guy wanting to NOT be known as the guy that Clowney totally unloaded on. He may even be somewhat correct in saying the hit looked more ferocious than it actually was. But I can't take him seriously in saying that he didn't really feel it.

Every time I saw the replay I kept thinking of Smokey in Friday standing over him saying "you just got knocked the **** out!"

This.

January 16, 2013  09:07 AM ET

Man....I felt that hit from my living room chair!

January 16, 2013  09:12 AM ET

I've heard about this. When something very traumatic happens to a person, they black it out and don't remember it.

I've blacked out almost every year from 1993 until 2009. So, I don't remember those years, either!!

What if Brady Hoke had come out there and Clowney was like: "You want some of this to old man, huh?!" Hilarious!

January 16, 2013  09:47 AM ET

Has he found his helmet yet? I think it's still rolling it's way towards Ann Arbor.

January 16, 2013  09:52 AM ET

maybe best college hit ever.

January 16, 2013  10:08 AM ET

Or maybe.....He got hit so hard that he has no memory of the hit.

January 16, 2013  10:31 AM ET

He was covered in pads from head to toe. He really might not have felt it.

I'd beg to differ....

that hit changed the game completely....Jones was a completely different player after that hit.

Great hit, but could Katzenmoyer even count to his jersey number :)

That is great hit but not on the Clowney hit level. No forced fumble that is calmly palmed. No Helmet flying ten feet. That fumble changed the game as well.

That hit is more on this level. The Elam hit changed the game and the entire UF season,
