Subban 'not close' to signing in Montreal

Plekanec is feeling much better and is still day-to-day, Therrien said. Still absent from camp was defenceman P.K. Subban, a restricted free agent, who remains unsigned. Subban's agent Don Meehan sent a text message on Tuesday to The Gazette's Dave Stubbs saying: "No news to report today. We are not close to an agreement."

Montreal wants to give him a bridge deal like Del Zotto (he got 2 years 5 million, I think the Habs are talking 2 years 6 million), but Subban wants his big contract now. I seriously thought that he had given his agent the green light to get a bridge deal done (maybe 2 years 7 million), but apparantly they're at an impasse because they,re just not even looking at the same type of contact. Hard to get down to numbers in that case.
