05:34 PM ET 01.16 | Lovie Smith quickly is becoming the odd man out in this offseason's frenzied head-coaching derby. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the former Bears coach isn't expected to take a defensive coordinator job and, with another year remaining on his contract with Chicago, likely will wait until 2014 to jump back into the NFL, per a source close to Smith. With Chip Kelly going to the Philadelphia Eagles, only the Arizona Cardinals and Jacksonville Jaguars are left without a head coach.

Creepy!!

Offense is the key for the majority of the HC hires this month. Lovie wasn't handling that part of running the Bears very well. Bringing in guys like Mike Martz and Mike Tice to run an offense isn't going to get the attention of GMs in a good way. This isn't a complete surprise.

So Mark Trestman formerly of the Montreal Alouettes is now the head coach of the Bears. He was damned good in MontreaL. Good luck Mark and Go Bears!

Offense should be the focus as well in AZ and Jax.

yep, since I'm a big Trestman fan, I guess I'll be rooting for the Bears more often than not. I really hope he does well with over there.

Typical for Lovie. Sit back, do nothing, and get paid. They should have let him go 2 years ago.
