09:30 PM ET 01.16 | Oiler country has waited for some time now, but the future seems to finally be here. On Tuesday, head coach Ralph Krueger announced that 22-year-old Jordan Eberle and 21-year-old Taylor Hall would be named alternate captains in Edmonton for the 2013 season. Eberle and Hall replace former alternate captains Ryan Whitney and Ales Hemsky. Eberle is going to be assuming full-time alternate captain duties while Hall is going to share his "A" with defenseman Nick Shultz. Hall is heading into his third season with the Oilers and recently inked a massive seven-year, $42 million extension to stay in his home province. Despite being a year older than Hall, Eberle is entering his fifth season since being drafted 22nd overall by Edmonton back in 2008. Both players are considered to be cornerstones of the franchise moving forward, however current captain Shawn Horcoff is expected to hang onto his captain status for the shortened season.
