08:02 AM ET 01.17 | Chip Kelly has ducked out of Eugene and is headed back to the East Coast, to the City of Brotherly Love. Eagles fans are polarized over the surprise hiring of Chip Kelly as the successor to fired head coach Andy Reid. "Love it! Love it! It's a great surprise," said "Phil from South Jersey" on 97.5 The Fanatic. "This is disaster," said "Rich on a cell" on 94 WIP. " ... To get a college coach is pathetic." Hosts on both stations were quickly wondering if the hire means quarterback Michael Vick would be back, given the University of Oregan coach's love of a fast-paced attack. ... Reports have dismissed Kelly as a candidate for more than a week, saying he'd decided to return to school.

Fans have different opinions? Hard to believe since we're all experts.

His sudden change of heart after declaring that he was staying in Oregon brings back memories of Nick Saban. So, one must wonder if Chip Kelly is a pathological liar.

He will crash and burn in Philly.

January 17, 2013  08:20 AM ET

One day he's down here in Dallas talking to a kid about keeping his commitment to the Ducks. The very next day - he accepts the Iggles job.

Draw your own conclusions. I have.

Don't worry about the split, after his first loss they will all hate him

There is a long growing list of college coaches to have done that...

That aside. Please, Please, Please do not keep Mike Vick...why pay him a million bucks for every turnover he will have? + he wont stay healthy if the o-line dont improve/ stay healthy

Kelly thinks he can make Mike Vick his read-option-quick-toss run Quarterback. My gut tells me it's going to be a disaster and the Iggles fans will crush him.

Vick is what, 33 or 34 now. Just had another concussion shortened season. So if Chip thinks he can operate an option read game plan, then we can all be confident that he is going to fail massively and Eagles fans will be really out for blood

Kelly pulled himself off the NFL market because a major Oregon booster was going to make it worthwhile financially for both Kelly and the Oregon program. I guess the check bounced.

Consider this he was hired by BB in New England as a Consultant, so how does his Credibility look now?

Was he ever cleared to play after that?

January 17, 2013  09:25 AM ET

Greedy Lurie waited too long to make a decision---- had to take what was left... This Beer-Belly Leprechaun was the only choice... Not a step up from andy reid by any means....
